VIDEO: Sir Alex Ferguson at the 86th Academy Awards

The 86th Academy Awards created plenty of buzz including the much talked about (and retweeted) selfie but for Manchester United fans the highlight wasn’t Ellen DeGeneres’ hosting skills or any of the Hollywood stars that dazzled the Red Carpet. Instead it was the brief appearance of Sir Alex Ferguson on the Red Carpet that created a flutter. The ex-Manchester United manager had an opinion on the evening’s proceedings lending his seal of approval to a couple of awards and even let us know what he thought they’d got wrong (old habits eh?).

A visibly relaxed Sir Alex was full of laughs, a stark contrast to the man who banned journos left, right and centre at Old Trafford. He capped it off by joking that he was “retired and had nothing to do”. And after over 2 decades of ‘squeaky bum’ time, who can begrudge him some fun?
