Manchester United team up with Google+ for groundbreaking use of technology for the Liverpool game

Manchester United are the most popular club in World football. Over the past 10-20 seasons they’ve established themselves through innovative marketing techniques and taking advantage of globalisation to grow their fan base, especially in the continent of Asia.

It is with this in mind that experts have said the club can sustain themselves both financially and in terms of popularity they have grown and established. Their on-field success may be failing, but their efforts off-the-field have been setting benchmarks the past few seasons and continue to do so in this present day.

Their latest innovation involved American technology company, Google. The California based company launched social media website, Google+, in 2011 one of whose features’ was Google Hangouts. A video-communication platform that allows multiple users from across the World to interact with each other.

For the massive game against Liverpool next weekend, Manchester United will be introducing a “Front Row” initiative, allowing fans Worldwide to experience watching a game at Old Trafford in virtual front row seats. For this, advertisements on the digital advertising boards around the pitch won’t appear. Experts are still unsure if this is just a ‘beta’ type experiment, or if Google+ are paying Manchester United for this initiative. Given that United will be missing out on valuable advertising revenue, one would consider that the latter is true.

Here is a video of the “Front Row” feature. A wonderful tech-based experience for passionate Red Devils, worldwide.
