After a worthy 1-0 win away at the San Siro, Atletico were favourites to go through to the quarter-finals. But they always needed to be vary of complacency.
To put any nervousess behind them, and the result beyond ‘reasonable doubt’, Atletico took the lead in the second leg after just 3 minutes. Who else but their Brazilian-Spanish striker, Diego Cota, turned up and put the Spanish side two goals ahead on aggregate. The goal itself, was an incredible volley, well worthy of a potential quarter-final berth.
