Delph’s neat back flick goal against Chelsea for Villa

Chelsea were up against Aston Villa away from home as the title race begins to hot up going into the latter stages of the season. With City winning earlier, and having games in hand, it was crucial that Mourinho’s men got all three points themselves.

In a surprisingly open game, Villa took the game to the Blues despite the title chasers having more of the ball and the better chances. Villa upped the tempo later and this clearly effected Chelsea. The game changed when Willian was sent off and Delph took advantage just minutes later. Ramires was also later sent off towards the end for a horror challenge while Mourinho too was sent to the stands.

It is that goal by Delph which is the focus of this piece. The ex-Leeds man set up the goal with a blistering run, and getting on the end of the eventual low cross as well. A fantastic finish from the Villa midfielder.
