Hoffenheim’s Roberto Firmino showed against Mainz exactly why he’s the hottest property in the Bundesliga

Roberto Firmino has become a regular feature in rumour mills, with the Brazilian being linked with a whole host of European clubs, especially those in the higher echelons of the English Premier League. The 22-year-old has been in sublime form this season scoring 19 goals and 13 assists in 28 games in all competitions. Quite remarkable that for someone playing in midfield.

Hoffenheim took on Mainz on the weekend, in one of the most exciting Bundesliga game of the seasons. Roberto Firmino was on the losing side but the midfielder showed exactly why the hype around him is thoroughly justified. He doubled Hoffenheim’s advantage 3 minutes after they took the lead. Robert Firmino displayed immense technique to take the ball under control, and hit it on the volley. A truly incredible effort.

Unfortunately for Hoffenheim and Firmino, Mainz got back into the game scoring four goals in the last 23 minutes of the game but viewers will remember the match for Roberto Firmino’s effort.
