Hi, what are you looking for?

Pele or Ronaldo: Who’s your pick for the best footballer of all time?

One of the Official Partners of the Fifa World Cup, Emirates have launched an innovative All Time Greats campaign that all lovers of the game have debated about endlessly – given two great players, who is better.

30,000 feet above the sky, two fliers animatedly talking about a football legend when Cristiano Ronaldo, Emirates’ latest global ambassador, is standing against the bar counter, it’s discernible that they are in awe of one of the greatest footballers of the present until the time they talk about the legend’s feat of winning 3 World Cups taking Ronnie by surprise.

Enter Pelé, who has been a global ambassador of the brand since January, beaming in his standing as arguably the ‘greatest’ footballer of all times. The plot twist happens when a much younger fan unassumingly hands Pelé a camera to capture the moment when the fan meets the legend in Ronaldo.

The campaign highlights the unadulterated love and adoration fans have for their footballing God – and different sets of fans have their own criteria to choose one over another star name.

While the middle aged guys are in raptures about Pelé and his 3 world cup triumphs, Ronaldo appeals to the teenager due to his present star status and undeniably the charisma he oozes with the cheeky smile and slicked hair.

The debate over who is the greatest continues and in many ways it is a celebration of the super human feats of these stars. Even in the rarefied corridors of the A380, we feel the childlike gaiety of seeing a man who has made our lives happier on umpteen occasions. Both the stars appear at ease with their fans which recognize the fact that it is the fans whose sincere appreciation of the game make or made them to work hard and hone their talents to soar above the rest.

The football World Cup is precisely that, a celebration of skill, temperament and friendship. The campaign is right on the money in its aim to usher in the greatest event of the most global sort in humanity.
