Uruguay have named their World Cup squad for the big summer spectacle in Brazil. Not too many surprises in there. All the talk was about whether key player, Luis Suarez, would make the squad or not but the Liverpool star has made it in despite getting knee surgery just a few days back.
The Uruguayan squad is strikingly similar to the one which we saw four years back in South Africa with Oscar Tabarez trusting the tried & tested. #TalentRadar is particularly pleased to see Atletico Madrid’s 19-yr-old youngster, Jose Maria Gimenez, survive the cut and make it into the final squad to be taken to Brazil.
Here is the final 23 man Uruguayan squad:
Goalkeepers: Fernando Muslera (Galatasaray), Martín Silva (Vasco Da Gama), Rodrigo Munoz (Libertad)
Defenders: Diego Lugano (West Bromwich Albion), Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid), Jose Maria Gimenez (Atletico Madrid), Martin Caceres (Juventus), Maximiliano Pereira (Benfica), Jorge Fucile (Porto), Sebastian Coates (Nacional).
Midfielders: Egidio Arevalo Rios (Morelia), Walter Gargano (Parma), Diego Perez (Bologna), Alvaro Gonzalez (Lazio), Alvaro Pereira (San Pablo), Cristian Rodríguez (Atletico Madrid), Gaston Ramirez (Southampton), Nicolas Lodeiro (Botafogo)
Forwards: Luis Suarez (Liverpool), Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain), Diego Forlan (Cerezo Osaka), Cristian Stuani (Espanyol), Abel Hernandez (Palermo)
