Italy World Cup squad announced, four Talent Radar youngsters make it

The Italy World Cup squad was announced by Cesare Prandelli with a final list of 23 players named. Yesterday the Italian camp was faced with some unfortunate news as Riccardo Montolivo was injured in the game with Ireland and that consequently ended his World Cup hopes; the AC Milan midfielder thus was left out.

Equally disappointing was the omission of Giusseppe Rossi. Some 6 months back the Fiorentina man was favourite to lead the Italian line-up but injury put that in doubt, again. He came back though and had been working very hard to be fit in time but Prandelli has decided to leave the striker out. Extremely disappointing that, can only imagine what he’s going through.

Roma’s Mattia Destro also misses out despite impressing in the second half of the season. He joins Antonio Mirante & Romulo in the unfortunate list of players that have been cut.

Four Talent Radar youngsters have made the list though, to our complete happiness. Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne has made it in and might just play a significant part. Marco Verratti who is regarded as Pirlo’s long term replacement in the national team has also unsurprisingly made the list. Genoa’s Mattia Perrin, considered Buffon’s long-term replacement will also make the trip to Brazil. AC Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio is the other youngster who gets in, and is likely to play a significant role.

Here’s the Italy World Cup squad.
