Barcelona’s La Masia academy is known for producing top talents. Players who go on to win World Cups, Champions Leagues, Ballon D’Ors etc. The most recent fruitful produce of the academy that have gone onto shine at first-team level are Gerard Deulofeu and Rafinha Alcantara. Though chance at the Nou Camp were minimal, the duo made their name in England & Spain respectively, with one spending the season at Everton, and the other at Celta Vigo.
The two have now returned with a possible first-team opportunity being mentioned. It remains to be seen if the two graduates do indeed get to play regularly in the starting eleven. Barcelona is going through a transition phase and may well be ready to add the new generation to their plans.
Barcelona’s instagram account shared a video today of the moment Deulofeu & Rafinha met again at the Nou Camp. Not sure when the video was taken, may have been a few weeks back, but clearly these two know each other well. One can only hope we see the same familiarity & understanding on the pitch.
The two actually look good in Barcelona colours again.
