Yaya Toure pays tribute to his late brother on Instagram

This past week, Ivorian pair Yaya & Kolo Toure were informed of the devastating news that their younger brother had lost his battle with cancer, passing away at the age of 28. Never in a million years do you believe that you will ever be faced with the prospect of having to bury someone you love, let alone someone who is at the tender age of 28. Many people will tell you that this is too young to die. At 28, your life is just starting to begin. You will have a steady career, you may have met the love of your life, or you may be preparing for children. The last thing on your mind will be having to look into burial insurance for seniors to help cover the cost of any funeral expenses you may have after you have passed away. Even people who are nearing the end of their life don’t want to think about this. Truly they don’t.

For the footballing duo of Yaya and Kolo Toure, they are coming to terms with life without their brother, who succumbed to the horrible and devastating disease that is cancer. This affects thousands of people around the world on a daily basis, and now, they will have to lean on each other for support. With this, they will be able to grieve at their own pace. But it won’t be easy. No one said it would be.

The FIF announced this publicly after their game with Colombia. Both the Toure brothers have remained in Brazil for the remainder of Ivory Coast’s World Cup campaign with Yaya now posting this image on Instagram along with a moving tribute to his brother. Our thoughts with the Toure family.

“It’s been a very hard week both on and off the field , you are now an angel and I will play for you”
