If there’s one thing that Social Media has positively done in football, it has brought supporters closer to players (there are many negative things it has done as well, but that’s for another day as we don’t have the time). The latest ‘craze’ among footballers and supporters in Social Media is on the photo-sharing platform, Instagram. And a more recent addition to it has been Liverpool and ex-England captain, Steven Gerrard.
The English side is in New York as part of the International Champions Cup tournament. The entire Liverpool squad (or at least most of the contingent), went out for a private team bonding session, away from the media frenzy, transfer rumors, season expectations, etc, until of course this private affair was posted on Instagram by the captain. Team-building exercises are so important as they can instill a sense of trust between colleagues. This is important, especially for sports teams, as it will allow them to play together as a team better. There are so many different options for team-building activities out there, and many are choosing fun options like an escape room for large groups or even paintballing. When you trust the people you’re working with, any tension is lifted as you know you can rely on your teammates.
And from looking at this photo, it would seem the team bonding has worked as Pepe Reina seems to be in a much happier mood than he was after he had played against Man City! It also looks as though Martin Skrtel is down a few drinks himself while Henderson is rather calm (no drinks for the energy boy?!).
