Patrice Evra: “I am not angry with Conte”

In the midst of rumours linking Patrice Evra to Juventus and before the move was made official, Juve boss Antonio Conte left his post in a shocking announcement. The Italian had won three consecutive titles with the club beating various records in the process, so his resignation came as quite a surprise to everyone.

It also opened doubts about whether Patrice Evra’s move from Manchester United to the defending Italian champions would indeed go through. Eventually, it did, with Evra joining the club and Max Allegri being appointed as the new boss.

Patrice Evra has since given his first press conference after being unveiled by the club. In there, he has spoken about the usual jazz “I’m happy to be here, want to win trophies” etc etc, you know the stuff footballers always say. But in the middle, there’s something interesting Evra mentions which caught our attention. He says “I am not angry with Conte”.

It’s good that Patrice Evra is not angry with Conte, but why would he be? What possible rational reason could there be for Evra to be “angry” with Conte? Yes Conte wanted Evra at the club, but left before the move transpired; but Conte’s problems with the board have been existing for a long time, long before any Evra move and well the problems are much bigger than the transfer of one player. It’s just a bit peculiar that Evra felt the need to say this out loud (or ofcourse, may be a journo brought it out of him).

We’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say a journalist forced it out.
