Statistical Infograph: Liverpool vs Manchester United

Liverpool vs Manchester United. The biggest game in English football, an old rivalry, a sheer hatred and a set of passionate loyalists. This game always promises a lot, and offers more. The two sides face each other on Sunday night looking to renew their rivalry. Both sides are now managed by two young and upcoming individuals, with bright managerial careers ahead of them.

This particular tie has been spiced up further in the last few seasons (like it ever needed to be), with incidents taking place on and off the pitch. While even the most faithful Liverpool fan cannot deny that Manchester United are the more successful side, given what this fixture means to the players and fans alike, the more successful side is pretty irrelevant. Past records, trophies, form are all forgotten when these two giants of English football collide.

Liverpool have gone off to a decent start to the Premier League season, 2 wins out of their first 2 league games and yet to concede. A win at Anfield will see Liverpool win their first 3 league games of a domestic campaign for the first time since 1994. A truly remarkable achievement for Brendan Rodgers.

Manchester United are 2 points off Liverpool, having had a difficult fixture earlier in the week against Chelsea.  Last season’s victory for United over Liverpool was their first at Anfield in five previous attempts. David Moyes is yet to defeat Liverpool at Anfield.

Below we have prepared a statistical infograph highlighting some of the important information ahead of the big game. Stats used for this image is secondary data for our infograph, with websites such as SoccerStats.com, WhoScored.com, KickOff.com being referred to, to validate the information included. Also note that most of the stats included are from the 2012/13 season.
