Lazar Markovic is said to be the brightest young talent to come through from Serbia. The 19-year-old was linked with a move to Chelsea before joining Portuguese side Benfica. His talents are so superior that he has featured in this websites’ list of 100 Best Young Players to Watch-out for in 2014, coming in at #17 in our list of attackers. See the full list here. We even published a detailed Scout Report on the talented ex-Partizan player, read it here.
Last night, Lazar Markovic scored his 5th league goal of the season as he gave Benfica the lead against Vitoria Guimaraes 5 minutes before half-time. It was an important goal as it allowed Benfica a comfortable second half, with the match finishing with that solitary goal. It leaves Benfica 3 points clear of Sporting CP and 4 clear of FC Porto at the top of the league.
The big moment of the match, was ofcourse, this beautiful goal scored by Lazar Markovic as he combined with 22-year-old Rodrigo. A sweet chip through to the Serbian was complemented with an even sweeter touch and finish. Enjoy!
