The ‘nightmare’ as many Manchester United fans will say, is over. David Moyes has been sacked as Manchester United manager after just 10 months in the job, the ‘Chosen One’, wasn’t that good an option apparently. Twitter has reacted to the sacking, and we have compiled some of the best tweets and organised them into distinctive categories. You’re welcome! Twitter has been the virtual home of football fans for a considerable amount of time now. Whilst some fan accounts might use something similar to Twesocial in order to find followers, others have simply been on the platform since it first began.
THE MOYES JOKES
The obvious, the funny, the retrospective. David Moyes will bear the brunt of a whole host of jokes for the coming weeks, such as these:
“Hard work, honesty, integrity” – that statement eerily similar to that announcing Moyes appointment. They thought those qualities would do.

Thoughts on the Moyes sacking? Who will come in for Moyes at United? Where do we think Moyes will end up if not at McDonald’s? – FootySays (@Footysays) April 22, 2014
@ManUtd and the iPads don’t forget the iPads – Craig English (@CraigEnglish92) April 22, 2014

Tweeting Happy Birthday to Dion Dublin (now deleted) a minute before announcing the Moyes sacking was great social media work by @ManUtd – Back Page Football (@bpfootball) April 22, 2014
David Moyes is the first manager that Manchester United have sacked since 1986. One final record broken. #AA_fp. – Football Planet (@iFootballPlanet) April 22, 2014
The best thing #mufc can do now? Get Hodgson on a pre-contract, and give him time. He’s ace with mid table sides. Continue Moyes’ legacy. – Sports Analysis (@AnalyseSport) April 22, 2014 We must stand by the new man He is the Chosen One MU don’t sack managers after 1 bad spell He’ll be given time He will be given time Sacked – Brian Durand (@BrianDurand56) April 22, 2014
THE SERIOUS MOYES TWEETS
Now we did need to sit down and think clearly about what has just happened. Was it the right decision? Was it too soon? And ofcourse..stats!
50% – David Moyes had the third best win rate (league games) of any Manchester United manager in history (P34 W17). Irrelevant. – OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) April 22, 2014
The way the club handled this wasn’t great I expected better from us in terms of how the press were told first This is a big lesson for us – Manchester United (@OldTraffordReds) April 22, 2014 Absolutely disgraced as a @ManUtd fan, cannot believe #MUFC fans and the board did not do what Alex Ferguson asked and give Moyes time #MUFC – Thomas Whelan (@Thomas_Whelan) April 22, 2014
Why offer Moyes a 6-year deal in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era only to sack him after 10 months? Utd after their 3rd manager in a year now. – Crippy Cooke (@Crippy4Villa) April 22, 2014
THE GIGGS AS MANAGER TWEETS
What next for the Manchester United hotseat? A fairy-tale popular man?
Perfect environment for Giggs to test the waters as a manager. Have my reservations purely because I don’t want his legacy tarnished – Wayne Barton (@yolkie_) April 22, 2014
I can’t be the only one who wants MUFC to appoint Giggs purely out of curiosity. – Graham Ruthven (@grahamruthven) April 21, 2014
THE FERGUSON TWEETS
And what about the ’cause’ of United fans experiencing Moyes at Manchester United? Sir Alex Ferguson
Although worth noting the failure of yet another Ferguson signing. His questionable eye for talent is something most forget about his reign. – Stefan Bienkowski (@SBienkowski) April 22, 2014

A large amount of blame should fall on Sir Alex Ferguson, who ignored the opportunity to hire a proven manager and went for a friend – Hayel Wartemberg (@HayelWartemberg) April 22, 2014
BLANC MAYBE?
Remember that Frenchman, previously playing at Old Trafford, being linked with the job ever since?
If PSG really were considering getting rid of Blanc, now time to do so. But surely United would have same concerns post-CFC loss? #PSG #MUFC – Jonathan Johnson (@Jon_LeGossip) April 22, 2014
THE SELF-PROMOTING NEVILLE TWEET
And finally, our favourite. Something we’d be delighted at seeing.
If it was up to us, we’d appoint @GNev2 as the Manchester United manager. Tactically fantastic, passionate about the club. What say? #MUFC – OutsideoftheBoot.com (@OOTB_football) April 22, 2014
