We published a piece earlier today explaining how “World Cup selfie” might just become a thing now, along with the Belgian national team’s World Cup selfie. We don’t want to promote it, but under our “Viral” feature we might go ahead and do just that.
Few more players going to the World Cup have posted images on instagram with their team-mates as they head into the big tournament in Brazil.
Juan Mata posted a selfie with his Spain & Man United team-mate, David De Gea. The former is still not guaranteed a place in the final 23 but has made it into the 30 man squad. Romelu Lukaku, posted one with Belgian team-mates, Vincent Kompany and Anthony Vanden Borre, all of whom have their ancestral roots in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but have adopted Belgium as their country. Lukaku posted the pic along with the message that they are all representing DR Congo (all in hashtags, mind you). Another United star, Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) posted a selfie with his Mexican team-mates, Guillermo Ochoa and Hector Moreno, from the plane presumably on their way to a friendly. And lastly, a more ‘sober’ selfie as Blaise Matuidi posted one from his hotel room with France team-mate, Paul Pogba.
