The USMNT have always had expectations going into a World Cup, and though they haven’t achieved great success, they have impressed on many occasions. That seems unlikely in Brazil, with expectations at an all-time low, with a rather weak squad (on paper). It doesn’t help that they’ve been put in an extremely difficult and open group with Germany, Portugal & Ghana all to play against.
This song below was released earlier today by ‘Soccer Gods’ and promoted by Fusion. We aren’t quite sure if any USMNT supporter is going to take this song seriously, surely it was meant to be taken with nothing more than a tinge of satire. Ex-player, Alexi Lalas, stars in the song as well playing a role in a small story-line in the video.
“I don’t care what they say, them countries are screwed, we’re going to paint the cup Red, White & Blue” says the chorus, and while we are all for optimism, don’t think any of that is true.
