Ahead of the big World Cup clash between England & Italy, the banter is rolling out with Hodgson’s side who don’t have any expectations take on Prandelli’s Italy who all the experts seem to be ignoring. Lack of expectations maybe, but enthusiasm is riding high.
As a result of this, Rio’s iconic statue, Christ the Redeemer, has had a bit of a makeover by two of the ex-players who have turned out for England & Italy respectively. Phil Neville first posted an image with the famous statue holding aloft an England scarf, while Italy’s 2006 World Cup winning captain, Fabio Cannavaro, draped the statue in an Italian flag.
Banter indeed.
“Come on England!!!”
“Come on Italy !!! Forza Azzurri !!!”
