Last night in Las Vegas, the UFC 175 event took place with some of the most eagerly awaited fights, with many people even staking money on this particular ufc fight night. The Ultimate Fighting Championship is a mixed-martial arts promotion in which a series of fights take place around the world, also known as fight nights. It calls itself the “premier organisation in MMA”. Mixed martial arts, of course, is nothing new dating back more than 5,000 years. But UFC brings together some of the world’s best mixed martial artists, fighting each other at different weights with a main event taking place once a month. There are more than 40 events each year. UFC was started in the US in 1993 and was sanctioned by Nevada Athletic Commission in 2001. Since then there has been hundreds of fights, each more exciting than the last. One of which was the clash for the UFC Middleweight championship between Chris Weidman (champion) & the challenger, Lyoto Machida (a Brazilian-Japanese fighter). Brazil’s captain, Thiago Silva, who is suspended for the semi-final clash with Germany, posted a video of the team supporting Machida with Hernanes in particular getting a bit out of control.
Machida eventually lost.
