Valencia’s long standing financial difficulties has seen them compelled to sell some of their brightest talents. Adding to the list is exciting young left-back Juan Bernat.
- Juan Bernat featured in our list of 100 Best Young Players to Watch out for in 2014, at #8 in our list of defenders.
- Bernat was selected in our La Liga Young Team of the Season 2013/14.
- Here’s a short report on the youngster’s performance against Levante.
The 21 year-old has enjoyed an excellent breakthrough campaign at the Mestalla and inevitable comparisons have been drawn between him and former Valencia and current Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba given the similarities in their style.
The attack minded full-back has severe competition at the left-back position in the form of Alaba and it remains to be seen the role he is set to play in Guardiola’s team. However, there is no doubt that he’s an absolute bargain at the reported price.
Bernat told the club’s official website: “FC Bayern are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and the world. I’m really looking forward to appearing in a team with players like Lahm, Neuer, Schweinsteiger, Robben and Ribéry and having Pep Guardiola as coach.”
Bernat has signed a 5 year contract and been assigned the squad number 18. Talent Radar will continue to track his progress.
