Schalke’s Papadopoulos & Meyer meet Diego Maradona, or did they?

Schalke’s pre-season has been in full flow as the team look to get in shape ahead of the Bundesliga season, a league where they’ve now established themselves as a top three contender, but never close enough to the title. Schalke’s instagram account has constantly updated images from the training sessions with Sidney Sam having joined up with the squad while Kevin Prince Boateng has returned as well.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Max Meyer posted images on Instagram, claiming to have met the legendary Argentinian footballer, Diego Maradona. At first sight, it does look like the legend himself, but with a look that seemed strangely similar to what the ex-Napoli man appeared as back in 2010. Some fans were quick to point out the obvious difference, while others noted that he didn’t quite have that long hair/beard look anymore.

The prank (if it was meant to be that), wasn’t an all-round success, with most not falling for it. There were some however, who expressed their ‘jealousy’ at not having the chance to meet this man.
