Lucas Piazon was the latest Chelsea youngster to be told by Mourinho that he’d have to go out and receive first team experience. German side Eintracht Frankfurt have snapped up the services of Piazon on a season long loan deal, taking advantage of what the London club saw to be surplus at the moment.
The 20-year old Brazilian arrived at Stamford Bridge over two and a half years ago and is yet to fight off the competition in the first team squad. Piazon is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder but is preferred out in the wider areas. With Chelsea’s options in the wider areas being Hazard, Schurrle and Salah as well as Moses, Atsu and Kakuta returning from loan spells at different clubs, Piazon would best be elsewhere getting as much experience as he can.
Having impressed while out on loan at Vitesse last season with 11 goals in 29 league starts, Thomas Schaaf will be hoping that Piazon will be able to continue his form at the Commerzbank Arena. With around 70% Eintracht Frankfurt’s attacks coming from the wider areas last season, Piazon will enjoy his attacking role out wide.
Piazon was named on Outside of the Boot’s list of Top 10 Forwards/Wingers to watch in 2014. This loan opportunity will mean that we would get to see more of the youngster thus giving us more opportunities to produce reports on him. Watch out for Talent Radar as we track his progress through the season.
