Say what you want, selfies are the single most annoying thing of the 21st century. Go on holiday, take a selfie. Go to a restaurant, take a selfie. Go to a stadium, take a selfie. Go for a shower, take a selfie (yes people do that). When did we start documenting ourselves more than the things we saw?
But a “rant” on selfies is for another day, and a much lengthier piece. This one will serve the purpose of an example, with Bayern Munich’s latest picture the focus.
The club were taking their official team photos (you know, when cameras take pictures of you rather than you taking a picture of you); soon the phones came out with the players clicking pictures themselves. Eventually, and as expected, it was time for selfies.
The photo was promoted as “official selfie”, ofcourse a tongue in cheek comment but do you see the problem there. Sebastian Rode, Mario Gotze, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller & Thiago Alcantara feature. This is a photo with a camera, of a camera taking a photo, of a camera taking a selfie. Lost you there? Take a look.
PS: Atleast these players are gems on the pitch, makes up for there selfie obsession.
