Mario Balotelli mocks Man United’s loss, then receives racist abuse on Twitter

Manchester United slumped to their second defeat of the season after losing 5-3 to Leicester, this a more hurtful one after having played some terrific football for large parts of the game. Understandably though, they were the focus of a lot of banter on Twitter with supporters of rival teams joining in to mock their defeat.

Liverpool striker, Mario Balotelli, joined in the fun as well, sending out this tweet.

Understandably, this went down very well among Liverpool supporters as Balotelli is already popular among the fanbase. But the other side of this scenario was the anger United fans felt at the tweet, that too is obviously understandable.

Unfortunately though, some went a step too far. The issues with racism in the sport are well documented, and a lot of measures have been taken to bring it under control.

Balotelli racism

It’s been said, plenty of times before, but there should never be place for this in the sport, on social media, and society.
