After a slow start to the campaign, Juventus have found their feet and now sit second in the Serie A table – just two points behind current leaders Napoli. Massimiliano Allegri’s men have won nine successive league games and now stand a real chance of claiming a fifth straight Serie A title this season. The Old Lady is in full flight and will be extremely difficult to stop, especially considering their favourable run-in. Here’s why Juventus WILL go on to lift the title at the end of the campaign.
Okay so it wouldn’t be unfair to say that Juventus are the best team in Italy – in fact, the statistics prove it. However, their early season performances almost cost them dearly. Had it not been for their incredible nine-game winning streak, Juve would still be languishing in seventh or eighth place. In a way, the fight between Napoli, Inter Milan, Roma and Fiorentina has helped Juve claw their way back into the battle as there isn’t one outstanding candidate at the top of the division.
At the time of writing, Juventus are well placed to mount a title challenge and it would be hard to back against the defending champions. However, their odds aren’t brilliant – especially considering their poor early season slump. Many punters will be looking for a price boost in order to maximise their profits as the business end of the campaign draws ever closer. Allegri’s men are capable of going all the way but Napoli are also looking particularly strong with exactly half of the season still remaining.
Juventus also have the Champions League to think about too. Last season, the Old Lady reached the final of Europe’s elite club competition but were well beaten by treble-chasing Barcelona. In the last-16 stage, Juve will face Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich – an ominous task. Juventus backers will be quietly confident but may want to get a little more for their money. If you are the same, there’s lots of price boosts at Bookies.com and some may even include Juventus or other Italian football teams.
Despite tough opposition from Napoli and Inter Milan, I fully expect Juventus to go all the way this season. Allegri is a brilliant manager and his tactical nous and aggressive style will help Juve pick up at least six additional points this season. Meanwhile, stars such as Paul Pogba and Paulo Dybala are capable of turning games and Juventus’ vast array of match winners will give them the edge over their opponents. With a bit of luck, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Old Lady lift the title at the end of the campaign.
