The readers of Outside of the Boot have cast their votes across Europe’s top 4 leagues across 10 different award categories with 4 nominees under each to pick the players who they believe deserved recognition the most. The Premier League 2013/14 End of Season Awards were the most closely competed one, with most categories lacking a clear winner. Note that no club has more than one representative in a particular product category.
CLASS ‘A’ AWARDS
These are the highest class of awards in Outside of the Boot’s End of Season Awards, recognising the top individuals in three distinct categories. These are the individuals who can be classified as the best in their respective category this particular Premier League 2013/14 season.

Brendan Rodgers has stolen away with the Manager of the Season award, claiming a huge 68% of the votes as he had led Liverpool to one of their greatest Premier League seasons of recent times. While the title has slipped away from Rodgers, just being in contention is quite an achievement for a side that finish 7th last time round.
Both Tony Pulis and Roberto Martinez have helped their clubs pushed well above their weight as they’ve got impressive results and a solid finish to the season. Pulis was ahead of Martinez by just a few votes as the Everton man actually had 2nd place in his grasp for much of the voting period.

Luis Suarez has had an incredible season, leading the scoring and assists charts, helping Liverpool challenge for the Premier League title. He has completely blown away competition in our End of Season Awards, winning 81% votes in the Player of the Season category, well ahead of 2nd place Yaya Toure.
The City midfielder managed just 10% of the votes, slightly better off than Chelsea’s Eden Hazard who got 6%. All three players were vital for their side’s campaign, carrying their respective teams throughout.

Raheem Sterling completes the Liverpool domination in the Class A awards, comfortably securing the Young Player of the Season award, leading throughout the way as he has proved to be a vital part of Liverpool’s successful season. His performances have even warranted him a place in England’s World Cup team.
Luke Shaw is another young Englishman whose impressed this past season and was rewarded with an England call-up. But he managed only 17% of the votes, just enough to beat off Everton’s on Romelu Lukaku.
CLASS ‘B’ AWARDS
The second level of Outside of the Boot’s End of Season Awards are the positional awards given to players across four distinct areas. Certainly, goes without saying, no players has been nominated for more than one positional category.

Petr Cech was out in front in this award category for much of the duration of the voting period, but Julian Speroni took over as the days progressed getting 34% of the votes in a closely fought awards battle. In fact, Tim Howard had a good hold of 2nd place as well and looked to be challenging for top spot.

Seamus Coleman was voted Everton’s Player of the Season and has been recognised on our site too, being voted Defender of the Season by our readers. In another closely fought Premier League Class B Awards, Gary Cahill was not too far behind with 29%, beating of Martin Skrtel, just about.

Widely considered to be one of the best midfielders in the world, Yaya Toure was deservedly voted Midfielder of the Season, ahead of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard. The award was being led by Gerrard for quite some time, but Toure emerged victorious. Chelsea’s Hazard would have to settle for 3rd, ahead of 4th place Adam Lallana.

With 91% of the votes, Luis Suarez has dominated the Premier League Forward of the Season category. He has already won the PFA Player of the Year and FWA Player of the Year Award, so this is another feather in his cap (or we like to believe so).
CLASS ‘C’ AWARDS
The final class of Outside of the Boot’s End of Season Awards putting players head to head based on their age, youth football and also on the basis of managerial judgement.
Transfer of the Season: Romelu Lukaku (Everton) – 42%
Experienced Player of the Season: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) – 63%
Homegrown Player of the Season: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) – 41%
Both Merseyside clubs were the clear dominating sides in these awards with Everton getting the most nominations (9) followed by Liverpool (8). Liverpool though did better off in the final results, winning 6 awards while Everton managed just 2. Manchester City and Crystal Palace both had 1 award win each.
