Italian football is a far cry from the power it once was but its quality is often understated by perception. The Serie A has undoubtedly suffered greatly after the Calciopoli scandal and much like the Bundesliga, it suffers from the stranglehold that one team has on the title.
Juventus’ domination of the Serie A in the recent past has been incredible but at the start of the season with Massimiliano Allegri taking over, there were a few question marks raised over the side from Turin. Allegri and his team have answered in style not only adding yet another title to their name but also finally delivering in the Champions League after a few years of under-performing. One can only hope that Juventus making it to the Champions League final signals a new dawn for Italian teams among Europe’s elite.
The traditional Milan giants are yet to return to the top of the table with off field problems spilling onto the pitch particularly in the case of Milan. Roma looked like the only team capable of challenging Juve in recent years but have flattered to deceive once again.
