Unfortunately for Australia, despite two admirable efforts against Chile & the Netherlands, they will be returning home after one more game as the Dutch & Chileans secured their place in the knock-out round. This World Cup will also most likely be the last one we see Tim Cahill in, whose two goals in Brazil have helped him score half of Australia’s all-time World Cup goals. The latest one, was an absolute thing of beauty. A first time cross volleyed in first-time by the New York Red Bulls player.
Many congratulated Cahill on his effort while others stood in awe at what is most likely the goal of the World Cup thus far. One such admirer was Rio Ferdinand who tweeted about the goal (note without actually directly mentioned Cahill’s twitter handle). The Australian front-man has now responded with a classy tweet. Tim Cahill writes his own scripts!
