We find ourselves in an era of incredible technological advancement and a wide emphasis on data. None represent this more so than Social Media with Twitter playing a huge role, particularly in the football sector. The platform has now released an incredible map visualizing data displaying how the USA 2-2 Portugal (Tactical Analysis here) game panned out on their platform in terms of tweets coming in throughout the 90 minutes about the game. There is ofcourse a clear rise in the number of tweets when a goal goes in, with Jermaine Jones’ long range effort particularly popular. Majority of the tweets were from the Western regions with Asia finding it hard to stay away for the late kick-off, though South East Asia was pretty active.
